
MBARE ACADEMY THE FUTURE OF ZIMBABWE’S RUGBY

Keeping the children off the streets through sport and rugby in particular is our main aim at the Academy’ states Director of Rugby andHead Coach Victor Pekani. ‘This has been our aim sine the Academy inception some 3 years ago.’
‘We have over 75 children attending the Academy from schools within Mbare. Schoolssuch as Gwinyai, Chitsere, St. Peters, Maria,Chirodzo, St. Micheals, Chiedza and Shingirai Primary Schools are all represented.’‘Our competing age groups include the colts and U13 with our most senior side being the U14’s.’ ‘The Academy aims to enter as many tournaments a year as it can and this year saw the Colts win the Shield Final against HartmanHouse at the Catsicas Hellenic Tens NightFestival. Spar Zimbabwe were the funding force behind our involvement at this tournament.’
There are always people that workbehind the scenes of any organisation to ensure that it runs accordingly.Zimbabwe Rugby is no exception and the rugby community appreciates the effortsof the Union staff.
